An expansion of the FN 509 family, the FN 509 Tactical is built on the FN submission pistol that the U.S. Although the design used in the FN 509 has undergone considerable upgrades, fn509c tactical, the Army tested it for its Modular Handgun Trials.
With its U.S. Patent No. 10/352,654 Low-Profile Optics Mounting System TM, the company’s pistol can accommodate over ten commercially available miniature red dot (MRD) optics that match the suppressor-height night sights and can be easily upgraded to accommodate new optic releases without requiring the slide to be directly milled.
The slide cap, meant to be used without an optic, FN tactical, features raised sight wings that guard the alignment of the iron sight if the pistol is dropped or jolted. It also contains a textured ramp that can be used to rack the slide against a boot, pant pocket, or belt loop.
Completing the top end is a 4.5-inch, cold hammer-forged stainless steel barrel with an FN signature, a target crown, ½” x 28 threads that take the majority of available 9mm suppressors, tactical pistol, and a thread cap with an incorporated O-ring to prevent loosening during usage.
Last but not least, the 24-round magazines enhance ammo capacity without sacrificing the convenience of carry because they are almost the same length as the pistol’s slide.
